How to Get to Raja Ampat (How to Get to Sorong)
There are International flights to Jakarta, Bali, Manado and Makassar in Indonesia connecting through Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore, Malaysia and other countries.
From the USA, the most efficient and reliable route was to Manado on Singapore Airlines, however we are not recommending that route due to the small aircraft currently being used on that route with bags often left behind as well as some other risks. From the USA you fly via LAX, SFO, JFK or IAH to Singapore, then make a connection on Silk Air to Manado where you will have to spend a night.
Instead we now recommend flying to Sorong via Jakarta or Bali. These routes might be a bit more expensive but in our experience baggage has not been delayed on the routes/airlines we arrange for our guest divers. Some routes use large aircraft and some small aircraft. We can recommend the best, most reliable route to Sorong for your trip. Many of the flights are not available online and I do not recommend booking flights within Indonesia online so that there will be someone keeping track and informing you of any flight changes, and also to help if if there is any last minute change or problem.
You will either arrive in Sorong with Deb or Don, or we will meet you at the Sorong airport and escort to to your hotel or onto SMY Ondina. If your itinerary requires that you overnight In Manado, Bali or Jakarta you will be met at the airport, transferred to your hotel and back.
We are not travel agents but will help you organize your air flights and travel which you will purchase directly from an airline wholesaler, online, or through us via an agent in Indonesia. Note: recently booking online is less expensive and we can help you with that too, including finding a route using your frequent flier miles. We do not charge for this assistance for our charter guests. Many of our guest divers use frequent flyer miles to Jakarta, Singapore or Bali.
