Rob Smith's first underwater images of reef dives were created during our Nov. trip. I have a special interest in these photos as Rob was in my dive team (sometimes my buddy) and I spotted many of the creatures Rob photographed..

NEW Raja Ampat Galleries

Karl and Kimberly Dietz

FINALLY Kimberly and Karl Dietz who also live in Fort Worth not far from the offices of City Seahorse joined us on a trip.

We are still trying to find time to get together for an evening to look at photos, video and reminisce about the good warm weather and diving we shared in November, but meanwhile, Karl prepared this gallery as a teaser:

Norberto's "jumping nudibranch" (see 2nd photo from bottom on left) was one of 6 beautiful new-to-me species of nudi's I saw on that trip.

I didn't get a chance to see it in action, so after everyone was finished diving, I forced Norb back into the water with me to go looking for it so I could see this jumping little thing for myself.

I didn't believe it, but it really does lurch forward most of time rather than glide smoothly. I watched it for 40 min! If only my video camera had not died, I could prove it.

Mike Miller provided me with this link about the critter:
