Amaury Cruz is the 1st prize winner in the 2007 SMY Ondina Photo Contest with his Raja Ampat photo, 'Peeping Mandarin' from Ambon's Laha dive.
Linda Ianniello's 'Colors Over Black' won Second Prize in the annual competition.
Amaury and Linda both were participants in our special charters, although they were on different trips.

The competition is open to all guests on SMY Ondina trips each year. Amaury's prize is a free dive cruise on liveaboard SMY Ondina. Linda receives a 50% discounted dive cruise.
2007 is the 4th year we chartered SMY Ondina and the 4th year guests on our special charters took top honors in the photo contest!

One of our divers for April 30 injured his leg on Saturday and will not be able to dive for at least 6 weeks.
This is a 12 night, Raja Ampat, Sorong-Sorong trip... it can be a guaranteed single cabin if desired.

As a reminder, trip insurance is a Good Thing. Fortunately, the injured diver has a DAN Preferred policy.

10th Year

10 Years in Raja Ampat
2009 Anniversary Year
It is difficult to realize that 2009 will be 10 years from the first time I went to Raja Ampat, a destination completely unknown to anyone I could locate. It seems only the other day that I organized a trip for myself, Tony Matheis, Woody Mayhew and Rich Garrett, the first Americans to visit the area. Conditions (accommodations) were rough and it was only the last few days that Mikel showed us the superb diving that made me start to promote Raja Ampat and return every year since!
We depart April 26 (a week from today) for our 4 spring trips. Lembeh land-based and May/June Raja Ampat liveaboard charters. Two trips are full of "old" friends from previous cruises. Two have new faces that we are looking forward to meet!
Between April 21 and June 5, my response to email may be greatly delayed. So if you are interested, check with me in the next few days for 2009 cruises.
We accompany and oversee all our charters. Each has limited participation and extra guides with special services above and beyond a normal liveaboard trip. They are all targeted toward producing the best opportunities for photographers and videographers. Contact us for more details.
Raja Ampat - City Seahorse Special Charters

2009 is the 6th year we've chartered SMY Ondina for all of November for two back to back dive cruises. There is also one Sorong-Sorong trip in April/May 2009.
We like this trip because of the close proximity of excellent dive sites eliminating the need for long cruises between dives (so more dives!) and the ease of travel to the ship's departure and return points. The variety in the area is amazing. Most of the dive sites make the rest of the diving in Indonesia look like a desert! SMY Ondina is expertly designed for diving and photographers (the best we've seen), plus it is beautifully outfitted in traditional Phinisi style.

I have again chartered this one way trip from Sorong through Raja Ampat, Halmahera and ending in Lembeh for May 2009.

Tony Matheis celebrates his 65th birthday arriving in Manado on April 28. As we won't have time for friends in TX to harrass him about this special birthday, I expect the April 30 liveaboard group to do their part to make Tony's first days of year 65 memorable!
